Fairy Rules and Tricking Fools

Fairies aren’t a children’s story with glitter and moral lessons. They’re portrayed here as complex, timeless nature spirits with laws, factions, and a long memory of how humans treat the Earth. I’m sharing a grounded PSA on fairy politics and society, plus the “rules of engagement” that show up again and again across fairy folklore, from names and food to gifts, promises, and the hidden cost of careless words.
We walk through 10 fairy laws designed to keep humans safe and relationships clean. Why your full name matters, why you never eat or drink what’s offered, why “thank you” can create a debt, and why you don’t step into a fairy ring without explicit permission. We also talk iron as a serious deterrent, how the Fae read emotion and intention, and why time magic changes the stakes of entering any fairy realm.
From there, we zoom out into Seelie Court and Unseelie Court dynamics and what those factions symbolize when you look at modern technology, pollution, pesticides, and the expansion of frequency-filled infrastructure. I connect these ideas to global mythology and cultural legends, then bring it back to the present: the veil thinning, strange “coincidences,” and why discernment plus reciprocity might be the most practical spiritual practice you can adopt.
If you’ve ever felt the world is more enchanted and more political than it looks, hit play, then subscribe, share this with a friend who loves fairy lore, and leave a review with your biggest question about the Fae.

Welcome And A Fairy PSA
SPEAKER_01Welcome to Rainbow's Rising, where we ascend together. Here we alchemize pain into power and awaken the sovereign within. I'm your host, Rainbow Raja, spiritual healer and transformational coach. I am not a gatekeeper, so I share the hushed secrets of mystery schools and approach spiritual concepts from a grounded and playful perspective so that you can rule your reality. We don't bypass the darkness here. We face our dark knight of the soul and conquer it. We explore energy, consciousness, and the unseen forces shaping your reality. So you can reclaim your voice, your truth, and your path. Welcome. Today I have a PSA. A PSA on fairy politics and society. Because the thing about fairies is most humans only know what we've seen in TV shows. We only know what we have seen on uh in the movies and in the books and in the fairy tales. And for the most part, most fairies are portrayed as sweet, docile, tender, loving light. Although there are fairies that are just tender loving light and kindness and sweetness, they are not as innocent or as docile as we have been led to believe. You may wonder why we don't see fairies much anymore. And the reason being is humans have made it very challenging for fairies to exist or to even visit our realm. And today I'm going to be exploring why that is, and also if you are interested in cultivating a relationship with fairies, how you can start to do that. So I thought since I'm going to be speaking on behalf of the Fae, and I don't have them here today, I would invite them to play in this interview. In this um wonderful natural environment. Here they are in the wild. I am just so grateful for their presence, for their light, for their love, for their spite, and even for their apprehension in being exposed. And I understand and I'm very tender and gentle about all of them. But something that I would like to throw out there is no matter what kind of preconceived notion you have of the fairies, I would like you to allow each individual fairy that you commune with, connect with, to define their own personality. Do not go into any connection with preconceived notions, as fairies, just as humans, do not like to be projected on. They do not like to be assumed. Fairies are complex beings that are beyond time. And we will get into why that is in a little bit. Now, there are some fairy laws that humans must abide by in order to have a healthy relationship with their realm and with their kind. So here are 10 fairy laws to abide by as a human. Number one, never tell the Fey your full name. Your full name gives them power over you. They can command you to do their bidding through the use of enchantments and binding spells. Even a nickname can give a fairy just enough leverage over you. Number two, never eat or drink anything they give you. Fairy food and drink is very potent in magic and side effects. A dose that might give fairies a small buzz could make a human dance until they die. Eating or drinking their food often leads to shape shifting, servitude, and being bound to the fairy realm for life. Number three, never say thank you. Saying thank you gives the impression the fairy did something very special and that you are now indebted to them. This will result in various favors or requests to balance that debt. It is best to express gratitude with a slight head nod with genuine gratitude in your heart, sending them love through emotion and energy. Small gifts are appreciated and favors clearly defined or phrases such as you are most kind. Number four, never accept gifts unreciprocated. By accepting a gift without offering one at the same time, you will automatically be in a debt to be repaid at their undefined timing at their defined cost. Fairies are unpredictable and will ask for fairy uh favors that may sound harmless, but may end up costing more trouble long term. It is best to define a favor as an offering. Give them a gift or food, drink, something shiny, etc., so that you do not owe them anything. Number five, keep your word. They are extremely honorable creatures, they have high standards for honesty and morals. And even if mortals do not always understand the fairies' morales, they take it very seriously. The reason being is fairies do not have the capacity to lie. Although they are quite adept at manipulation, they expect humans to be honorable in their words. A fairy will respect you if you are understanding the nuances of language and will even grin if you outwit them in contracts, but they will hold grudges and seek retribution if you outright lie or betray a contract with them. Intentions are key. If you are forgetful in a transaction, they will happily forgive you when you make up for it with gifts or grand gestures of deep remorse. Once again, since they cannot lie, they consider lying among one of the most treacherous things any being can do to another. Saying this phrase, even as an idiom or ingest, would set you up for a fairy to grant your wish in an unexpected and potentially dangerous way, as they are happy to oblige you in making your wish come true. Number seven, respect their realm. Do not step into a fairy ring, which is a circle of mushrooms, or enter their territory without asking explicit permission and receiving a fairy guide. If you enter their realm without respect or honor, you can expect to be fooled with and possibly put in dangerous situations. If you wish to enter their realm, I recommend visiting a fairy portal and communing with the area before building a relationship with the fairies, then requesting they escort you into their realm. It is not safe to enter fairy without a guide. Number eight, be careful with iron. If you wish to be friend or work with the Fae, iron can deter or even disrespect them. Fairies have sensitivity to iron. They can sense it in their bodies, like an off-frequency or a tone. It weakens their magic, smells strongly, and gives them intense migraines, and gives them the feeling of their skin crawling. Iron is toxic to them. So please be sure to check that your jewelry, clothes, bags, and anything that you carry do not have iron. Even iron traces still have a potent smell and will deter fairies from wanting to spend time with you. However, if you wish to deter fairies, wear iron. Number nine, free-spirited and unpredictable. Fay are motivated through morals, duty, energy, and emotions. No matter the region of fey, many are sworn to a sense of dignity and integrity to the morals that they believe best serve them. Many times these values are truth, reciprocity, respect, kindness, awareness of consciousness, laughter as medicine, and order and justice. The Fey as a collective are not good or evil. Sometimes a good fairy will be mischievous for laughs or get revenge for an injustice done to them or their comrades. Sometimes a bad fairy will do you a favor because you squash their enemy. Or just because they think you're a mean person just like them. They want to support that. Fairies are highly emotionally motivated as they feel emotions deeply and commonly use their emotional responses to justify their moral duties. Number 10. Time is an illusion. Time moves differently in their dimension. It can flow backwards or forwards. It is not linear. Although making friends with the right fairies can lead to having control over when you return from the fairy realm, it is not uncommon that minutes in the fairy realm equate to centuries later in the physical realm, which is why it is recommended to establish a fairy guide before entering the fairy realm. If you make friends in the right places, you might even be able to speed up time or slow it down, as fairies are adept at time magic and would be happy to teach you how to control and distort the waves of time in this reality as well. Now that you know those are the 10 laws to abide by when connecting with the Fae, let's go into their histories. Let's go into their society a little bit and better understand the dynamics at play in their realm. Depending where you are in the world, there are different fairy factions in their society. The most commonly known fairy factions are the Seely and Unsealy courts. At one time there was one large fairy court that later was split into two, especially when uh the topic of human collaboration came to play. And as humans became more involved with fairy politics, fairy transactions, fairy community, there grew a division among the fairies of this one court, and the court split into two, and those two factions turned into the Seely and Unsealy Court. The Seely Court, or the Summer Court, is a faction of benevolent fay that believe in the coexisting of humans and fairies. They believe in establishing a partnership to ensure the overall health of the two realms and the earth itself. They believe that despite humans' limitations, with the proper guidance and education, we could we could become powerful stewards for the earth. And the fairies and humans could share resources and information responsibly. Common fairies of this court are elves, nymphs, dryads, which are tree spirits, satyrs, pixies, which are what we commonly think of when we think of fairies, sprites, centaurs, treants, which are giant moving tree spirits, brownies, which are gnomes that help clean up houses and take care of chores, Selkies, which are seal shape-shifting fairies, Merfolk, and Kate She, which are humanoid cat people. The Unsealy Court or Winter Court are a more malevolent fee that harbor resentment towards mankind for becoming fearful and violent towards their kind. They see the development of iron, heavy metals, factories, expansion of frequency transmissions such as radio waves, microwaves, Wi-Fi, cellular towers, 5G, etc., unregulated expansion of technology and chemical warfare through widespread use of pesticides as an affront to nature and the cycles of Mother Earth, as well as a direct declaration of war. They believe mankind is not perceptive enough to curb their drive for power and greed to learn the complex systems of their own reality, let alone the fairy realm, to be able to coexist in a symbiotic relationship. The unseal fe usually take on a more scary appearance because fairies adapt their forms based on what they want others to perceive, as well as what their emotions and core beliefs express. Common species of this court are trolls, redcaps, which are vicious tiny gnomes that dip their hats in human blood. Dark elves, kelpies, which are giant water horses that drag people to the bottom of lakes to drown them. Gremlins, which are common with interfering with technology, Fukas, which are shapeshifters, hags, which are very, very old humanoid fairy ladies who eat children and young women in order to regain a youthful appearance. Banshees, Bogart, Lienseed, which is a vampiric fairy that inspires artists in exchange for their life force. Gwynolines, which are mountain spirits that grow branches out the top of their head like horns, and will normally capture, torture, and later eat hikers and travelers. Kappas, which are frog-like creatures that use psychic abilities to hypnotize their foe into drowning in the lakes of Japan. And the Alp, which are fairies that are known to sit on sleeping people and consume the energy and the terror and the emotions of someone in a nightmare. There are fairies that do not concern themselves with human affairs. The wildlings in Solitary Fae, for example, they usually live in rural or distant wilderness areas in the fourth dimension and tend to the lands of both the third dimension and fourth dimension, avoiding humans altogether. They are they are known to be feral and do not approach humans at all unless they are befriended through consistent, selfless offerings and care. Common solitary fee are leprechauns, elementals, pukas, kitsune, kodama, and aziza. Banished or forsaken fairies have usually broken their own court's laws or rules, such as having had relations with a human, or they broke a promise, or lost a bet, or pissed off a royal or the wrong fairy. When they are banished or forsaken, they have been excommunicated by their court and the resources of that court. Forsaken and banished fairies tend to be the fairies that work with humans the most, as it provides a means for their survival. However, these fairies are prone to thievery, deceit, requesting deals and wanting information in sentimental, mundane human objects in exchange for their time, assistance, and camaraderie. Any mixture of fe from the seely or unsealy court realms may become a wildling or banished fey. Fairies reside all around the globe and are seen in cultural myths and legends hundreds, even thousands of years ago. The Tuaha de Danan from Ireland are an ancient race of godlike beings who retreated into the mounds to become Ireland's high-ranking fe. Kelpis and Kate Shi of Scotland. Kelpis are shapeshifting water horses, and the Catechi are cat fairies that steal souls. Pixies and knockers of England. Pixies belong specifically to Devon and Cornwall Fore. Knockers are mind-dwelling sprites who knock on walls to warn miners of cavins. The elves of Germany. They were powerful, semi-divine beings of luminous beauty, closely tied to magic, fertility, and the ancestors of humans. They were divided into light elves who lived in the heavenly realm and dark elves who lived underground. Humans offered sacrifices to them to secure good health, farm fertility, and protection against disease. The Hulder and Valkyrie of Scandinavia, a seductive forest spirit from Norwegian and Swedish folklore, recognizable by her hollow back and animal tail. And the Valkyrie, their name translates to choosers of the slain. They are fierce armored warrior maidens who serve the god Odin, riding through the sky on winged horses. They hover over bloody battlefields to decide which fallen warriors are worthy of entering Valhalla. In Valhalla, the Valkyries shed their armor to serve mead to these fallen heroes, preparing them for the apocalyptic battle of Ragnarok. While not traditional fairies, their shape-shifting nature, often turning to swans, links them to ancient European spirit lore. Rusalki of Russia, these are dangerous water nymphs or spirits of drowned women found in Slavic folklore. The Duende of Spain. They are goblin or pixie-like house spirits, known for hiding objects and causing domestic mischief. They are childlike trooping spirits. Trooping spirits are fairies that live and move together as a group. They are often associated with holy knights in the Day of the Dead. Nunyehi and Yunwi Junsti of the Cherokee tribe. The Nunai translates to those who live anywhere or people who dwell anywhere. They are an invisible, immortal race of spirit people who live inside high mountain peaks, ridges, and subterranean caverns. They love music and dancing, often revealing their presence to human through the faint sound of drums echoing off the mountains. They are powerful, benevolent protectors who historically guided lost Cherokee hunters to safety and invisibly fought alongside the Cherokee people during times of war. The Yanwi Jun Ste translates to the little people. They are a race of tiny, attractive humanoids with hair that reaches all the way to their heels. They are highly sensitive, deeply magical spirits who live in thick forests and rocky places. They are genuinely kind to humans, offering to help lost children or secretly completing chores for people they respect. However, they are fiercely private and will cast spells upon a person to go mad if they are spied upon or treated disrespectfully. The Manituk of Lenin Lenape tribe, they are described as ancient, tiny humanoids who dwell deep in the dense forests of the mid-Atlantic. The encantado of Brazil. They are shape-shifting Amazon River dolphin spirits who transform into humans and give lovely gifts to those that they respect. The Yumbas of Africa are two-foot-tall silver-haired spirits who belong to the Wolf folklore of Senegal. The Menehune of Hawaii are a legendary secretive race of tiny nocturnal master builders known for building shrines. The Kappa and Yose Yosei of Japan. The Yose is an overarching Japanese term to describe Western style pixies, sprites, and airborne nature elementals. The Kappa are humanoid frog beings that would use their psychic abilities to lure people into the lake to drown them. Jin Nun and the Seven Fairies of China. The seven fairies are the daughters of the Jade Emperor and the Queen Mother of the West. Their primary duty in the heavens is to weave beautiful, colorful clouds and tapestries using celestial silk. Jin Nun was known as the Weaver Girl and was the youngest daughter. The story is well known because she was trapped by a human when he stole her magical silks, which prevented her to return to the fairy realm. The Pari of India are exquisite, iridescent, winged spirits that protect the magical realm. There is not a single country on this planet that does not have folklore or legends around fairies. Fairies being defined as non-human, magical nature spirits and guardians. This has led me to believe since I was a young child that despite our cultural dismissal of these beings, and they're a very real part of our reality. And I sought to prove that, and I have, at least for myself. As you can gather, the climate of the fairy realm is directly impacted by the humans and our ability to be of service to the earth. As of this moment, there have been there has been a lot of buzz in the realms about the veil becoming thinner and fluctuating more often than it did in previous centuries. Now the veil is the energetic boundary that separates our world from theirs. The affairs of the humans are being closely observed. As a species, we are at the precipice of evolution. We either continue as a parasite to this earth and ultimately destroy ourselves, or there may be enough humans to turn the tides and invest their gifts, their time, energy, and resources into reforming our systems and structures to consider the lives of the plants and animals and beings that coexist on the planes linear to ours. They are in wait, gossiping, making bets, and assisting whichever side they align with on that day. Theoretically, as magical beings, any involvement they may have in our human affairs would not be noticed easily. It might look like a burst of energy to an individual after a period of depression, or a stranger reaching out to offer resources because they had a feeling to invest in you. Whispers and ears, misplaced checkbooks or keys, technology glitches, random storms, or weather being in your favor. When we look at their involvement, beyond our personal connection to them, they can have a very powerful impact over our projects or even our currently unfolding history. Construction projects, mysterious people missing or deaths, blackouts and energy disruptions, strange happenings at large events and gatherings, certain political moves or military efforts that are confusing to the general public. Do I believe that they might be pulling the strings in the background? Maybe. Unsealies egging on anger of political leaders and corrupting minds or emotions of those with weak emotional fortitude? Possibly. Or the Sealys, whipping up windstorms to halt the development of a dangerous energy center that would emit massive radioactive frequencies, resulting in possible medical conditions for humans. Hmm, I wouldn't doubt it. Humans wouldn't be able to prove their involvement, nor would anyone believe them if they tried. Humans would become the game pawns of an agenda from an entirely different world, just beyond our own comprehension or perception. And we would only perceive the confusion and chaos of what those actions looked like on the surface. Which is why learning to work with the fairies and befriending them would behoove all of us humans. If there was a world overlapping our own, with its own politics and powers that exceed our current level of understanding, we should aim to know them and work with them for the betterment of all. Just kidding, just kidding. If the fairies were playing playing a war game with humans as their pawns, and we decided to ignore it and just say, that's a ridiculous theory. The thing about that is if magic and fairies are imaginary, that doesn't make their magic any less potent over you. If anything, you will do all the justification and gaslighting that they will ever need you to do so that they can continue to use you as a pond. And if you want to be that ignorant about it, I don't see any problem with them doing that.
Building Real Reciprocity With Fae
SPEAKER_00Whose fault will it be? It won't be mine, because I'm on the show trying to tell you guys.
Reading List And Belief
SPEAKER_01Next week, we are going to be covering how you can start to build a connection with the fairy spirits around you. If you can build a strong connection and befriend them and treat them the way you would a normal human friend with reciprocity and trust and respect, you might be able to get some answers to some of your own questions. They might teach you, they might share their magic with you, they might share their resources with you. Fairies have been on this planet for hundreds of thousands of years, and the fact that their realm is timeless, it's probably much longer than that. It would be foolish for us not to be curious and not to give them an opportunity to advocate for themselves. And I think if more humans took an interest in making a connection with the realm of the Fae, our world would be much better taken care of. So I hope that you will join me next week in learning some different techniques on how you can connect with the fairies and so that you can start to work with them and learn from them. If you would like to know more about the different types of fairies that are out there, and you'd like to know more about their history and their lore and their society, I highly recommend looking into books like Good Fairies, Bad Fairies by Brian Fraud, or How to See Fairies, or The Fairy Oracle that I recommended last week by Brian Froud. Brian Froud is one of the most connected people that I have seen with the fairy realm. Some other people I believe have a really strong connection with the fairies through their creative projects would be Stephanie Pumanla, as well as Holly Black and Cassandra Clare. I feel that the representations through their novels and their art is very accurate to what I have seen and experienced with the fairies and the fairy realm. Sometimes the fairies, especially the Seely Court fairies, will transfer knowledge of their realm to receptive, kind-hearted humans so that we can pass on their stories, so that we can pass on the faith that they exist. Because that whole saying of Peter Pan, clap if you believe in fairies. They truly do need us to believe in them for them to have strength and to be able to continue to care for our planet. So today I ask you to clap if you believe in fairies.
